A massive flock of crows makes people in South Portland, Maine Google what it means.

If you happened to be in South Portland, Maine recently where Burlington Coast Factory is, you may have noticed a huge flock of crows flying and gathering in the parking lot. Kayla Garlick noticed and took some video from the safety of her own car and then put it on her Facebook page.

Why did those crows take over Burlington Coat Factory in South Portland, Maine

When Kayla first saw the birds, she thought they were bats. It was still creepy when she realized they were crows, but less so. A quick Google will show that when hundreds of crows gather together, it usually means they are practicing the adage, safety in numbers. Plus, it's a way to share information like, where's all the good food.

Maine isn't the only state where blackbirds take over

There are hundreds and hundreds of videos of birds making a parking lot theirs. Check out this video of a flock of grackles (black birds that look very similar to crows) taking over a Kroeger's (grocery store) in Houston, Texas.

WOW! My favorite part is the woman braving the birds to run into the store. I bet car washes were busy in the Houston area after this! It makes what happened in South Portland, Maine seem like child's play. But for Kayla and others in the area when this happened, it was two things: creepy as hell and also beautiful. You have to admire any gathering that large and coordinated. It's also nice to admire it from INSIDE the car.
