There Were 30 UFO Sightings in 2024, and Here’s Where They Were Reported Seen

According to the National UFO Reporting Center, 2,804 UFO sightings were reported in 2024 (as of December), with October having the most with over 300.

A majority of the reports come from the United States, which is probably not a surprise as the UFO center is based in the states in Washington.

As for where Maine ranks in total for the NUFORC reporting (so, not just 2024), it lands at No. 32 in the country with 1,223 total sightings.

How Many UFO Sightings in Maine in 2024

Breaking it down to just 2024 provides a different number from the UFO Center: 30 in Maine since January 1, 2024.

Interestingly, there were two locations that had two different sightings: Windham and Lisbon.

The places these 2024 sightings reportedly occurred were in Eastport, Pittston, South Bristol, Whitefield, Portland, Tremont, Southwest Harbor, Brewer, Ellsworth, Dixmont, Prospect, Bethel, Winthrop, Buxton, Sabattus, Scarborough, Lisbon, Waterboro, Boothbay, Windham, Paris, York, Hermon, Biddeford, Dover-Foxcroft, Naples, Searsport, and Richmond.

There were no sightings in April, and the month with the most sightings in Maine was November.

In an article for WGME about reported 2023 sightings, UFO author and researcher Normar Slevik said the numbers reported are only part of the picture.

"There’s a lot of sightings that are happening in Maine that are going unreported through official means,” Slevik told the news station. “But sightings, if you look on social media, you’ll find that they are way up."

So, even though the National UFO Reporting Center reported only 30 sightings for 2024, that doesn't mean there haven't been more.

Did you know New England was the site of one of the first UFO sightings?

According to NewEngland.com, "The first documented UFO sighting in America occurred here, as did the first widely publicized claim of alien abduction." The website's article highlights that one of the first sightings was in 1639 in Boston.

That's nearly 400 years ago!

It looks like New England continues to be something of a hot spot destination for unidentified flying objects and tourists alike. Must be the lobster rolls.

And who knows how many more UFO sightings there will be as 2024 continues? Guess we'll just have to wait, find out, and... believe.
