Is something strange happening in the skies above Maine?

From glowing orbs to mysterious black shapes, there have been numerous reports of UFOs in the Pine Tree State so far in 2025.

Sure, sometimes the Starlink satellites trip people up when they see the string of lights in the sky, and maybe you might not have realized you've just spotted a high-flying plane's lights.

But perhaps, it's something else. Maybe even something alien. (Cue the eerie music.)

UFO Sightings in 2025

There have been 2,557 UFO sightings reported to the NUFORC in 2025 (as of August), with January having the most with over 500.

It's probably not a surprise that most of the reports come from the United States, as the UFO report center is based in Washington.

When it comes to Maine, the state ranks at No. 36 for the most total NUFORC reports. The No. 1 spot would be California, if you're wondering.

Maybe some celebs are aliens... Time to call the Men in Black, right?

How Many UFO Sightings in Maine in 2025?

If we take a look at how many UFO sightings there have been in 2025, the UFO center has had eight reports in Maine since January 1, 2025.

The places these 2025 sightings have reportedly occurred are Gorham, Augusta, South Portland, Sabattus, Tremont, and Leeds.

The sightings include bright orbs in the sky, a descending sphere, and even a silent black "something" that looked sort of like a TV screen.

What else will 2025 bring? There are likely to be some more reported sightings as the year goes on, and some that people don't report either.

You might be surprised to know that New England had one of the first UFO sightings, too.

According to NewEngland.com, it took place in 1639 in Boston: "The first documented UFO sighting in America occurred here, as did the first widely publicized claim of alien abduction."

Seems like Maine is something of a hot spot for UFOs, right?
