Camping season is not even close to over.

In New England, the best time to go camping is in the fall. The cool air feels fresh, the fall foliage is peaking, and the non-New Englanders are back in their respective states.

As fall camping is just around the corner, I wanted to see if there were any campgrounds that I did not know about that I should try to hit before the camping season is finished.

Turns out there is.

You know "Cruise America?" They have the big RVs that people rent all over the country...

Well, they put out a list of the top nine campgrounds in the United States and a campground in Maine made the list.

This is Sandy Pines Campground in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Sandy Pines was ranked the #5 campground in the entirety of the United States, according to a Cruise America article.

That is a crazy award because there are some amazing places to camp in the US - Yellowstone in Wyoming, The Grand Tetons, anywhere in Alaska, Glacier National Park in Montana, etc.

But none of those places made the top 5.

Sandy Pines offers a variety of camping experiences: tenting, cabins, glamping, cottages, and more.

Check out this unique wagon that was built into a gorgeous glamping stay.

From everything I have seen and read, this campground does an amazing job of making the campsite feel warm and cozy. Just because you are in the woods does not mean you cannot have a little comfort and style.

Here is another really cool spot at Sandy Pines.

Sure, the exterior of each campsite is cozy, but what about the inside of each tent/yurt/cabin?

Well, just like the outside of the site the inside is stylish and inviting.

Sandy Pines Campground has a heated pool, kayaks and canoes available to take out on the marsh, and a general store in case you forgot ANYTHING.

What an amazing place to take your family or significant other - and it's a top 5 campground in the United States.
