Tiny Hidden Treasure in Massachusetts Woods is Filled With Sweet Treats

Imagine you are walking through the forest, minding your own business, and you happen upon a little house.  It's more like a small hobbit home, but you cannot imagine what's inside.

Is it a playhouse for local children?  Is it a storage unit for the owner of the property? No, it's a "sugar shack" filled with all kinds of sweet, homemade treats just waiting for you to buy up some of the goodness you can smell as you venture closer and closer to the door.

What's in this mysterious forest cottage of Massachusetts?

Mrs. Mekler's Mercantile is a little cottage in the woods in Cohasset, Massachusetts, that knows a whole lot about marketing products.  MrsMeklersMercantile.com sells wonderful treats made with love, but the business also has a pop-up at the Boston Snowport, Weymouth, and of course, Cohasset.

While you can shop online for all types of delectable concoctions, including chocolate covered Twinkies (called Dreamboats), cakes, cookies, candies and more, there's something about following the sweet goodness through the isolated road to a small shack in the woods.  It's a fun afternoon with the kids, or an adventure with your bestie.

Truffles, bourbon caramels, and peppermint patties sound perfect to warm you up this winter, but the homemade breads and cookies are a big attraction too.

The shack was born during Covid, the mother of invention for many people.

The tiny storefront is open Sunday through Wednesday from 5:30am - 10:30pm, and Thursday through Saturday from 5:30am - 11:30pm.

You can leave cash in the mailbox, use Venmo, or leave a check.  It's on the honor system, so don't stop by with a credit card.
