If you have never been to Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada, you need to.

I'm not married to this opinion - but Niagara Falls might be one of the best weekend destinations that New Englanders can do. It also might be the #1 tourist destination I have been to.

I know you're thinking about the drive first and foremost.

Boston to Niagara Falls, Ontario is only a 7-hour drive. Sure, it is long, but again, this may be the #1 tourist hot spot...so 7 hours is easy for an unforgettable weekend.

Cleanliness?

Unlike other touristy hot spots (NYC, Vegas, New Orleans), Niagara Falls, Canada is incredibly clean. I mean it. I was blown away by how clean the downtown was. From the flowers to the streets, the place is GORGEOUS and well-kept.

Timeline/Worth the drive?

Yes and yes. Niagara Falls, Canada, can be completed in two full days.

This is not a week-long vacation destination. I spent a full Friday and a full Saturday walking around, doing tours, etc., and I felt like it was plenty - I saw it all.

Is it JUST the falls?

Kind of...but also no.

I thought I would get bored of looking at the falls after a few hours...or days...and I did not. There are three enormous waterfalls - and looking at them day/night, from up top/down at water level, while close up/far away all offers a different experience. You will not get bored.

Side note - you HAVE to do a boat cruise down to the falls. Getting misted on, feet away from the powerful waterfall, is hilarious and makes you feel like a kid again.

Outside of looking at the falls, there are TONS to do.

We did the butterfly Butterfly Conservatory, which is about 10 minutes from the falls, and it did not disappoint. Peek through these pictures to see how many we caught!

Other things to do: casinos, rides, mini-gold/laser tag type games, fun dining, and more.

P.S. Every night they host a 10 PM display of fireworks!

I really cannot say enough good things about Niagara Falls, Canada. If you're thinking about going or looking for a family trip to take, GO TO ONTARIO!

It is right, and I mean right, over the border - so don't stay on the US side. The Canadian side is way more fun, clean, has more to offer, etc.

Again, this is a perfect 2-3 day vacation. I think you would get "bored" with more than that; however, if your New England family is looking for a weekend away, consider this out-of-country destination.

To save money and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, I stayed at the Niagara Falls KOA Holiday, and it was perfect.

Yes, there are many gorgeous and convenient hotels with amazing fall views downtown, but for a cheaper, family-fun, option, check out my experience at the KOA here.
