Maine is One of the Happiest States… at Least on Twitter

Researchers at the University of Vermont recently looked at over 10 million twitter messages and mapped out the happiness level of every state.

The states were ranked based on how often positive and negative words were used in tweets.

Examples of happy words were: LOL, Ha Ha, rainbow, nice, good, sleep, food and wine.

Top 5 Happiest State on Twitter
1- Hawaii (Beach was one of the happy words they used.)
2- Maine
3- Nevada
4- Utah
5- Vermont

Top 5 Saddest State on Twitter

1- Louisiana
2- Mississippi
3- Maryland
4- Michigan
5- Delaware
