Question 1 on the Nov. 4 ballot says: “Do you want to ban the use of bait, dogs or traps in bear hunting except to protect property, public safety or for research?” The topic has been controversial and has reached to the Maine Superior Court.

I'll be honest. I don't bear hunt. Never have and probably never will. It just doesn't interest me. But I do have some skin in the game and, if you're a true, tax paying, Mainer, so do you. A yes vote on question 1 this November will stop the use of bait, dogs and traps in hunting bear.
