Weather forecasters who're keeping an eye on Maine's frozen rivers say there's an above-normal threat of flooding and ice jams for most of the state over the next few weeks.
With all of the snow we've had over the winter and very little melting, you might be wondering about river flooding this spring. Well, so were the River Flow Advisory Panel and the Maine Emergency Management Agency. Both groups met today to assess possible spring flooding and they now have their assessment.
The good news for Buffalo is the snow is expected to stop. The community can start the task of digging out. Two lake-effect storms has left them with about 7 feet of snow in a very short period of time. And the Buffalo temperatures are expected to warm up considerably this weekend. But that may not be a wonderful as it sounds...
Flowers are not the only sign winter is nearing its end. You know spring weather is getting closer and closer when officials start to look closely at the level of snow and ice in Maine and its' potential impact on Maine flooding. For me, just a sign of warmer things to come!
