Thanks to some wonderful Hall-Dale High School students (Dani, Thea and Emily) and their teacher Cheryl Gifford, for joining us on the Moose Morning Show to talk about their upcoming food drives.

There are two events this week surrounding food and the hungry. The first one is on Friday, May 8th. The Good Shepherd Food Bank's food truck will be giving out things like bread, produce and canned goods beginning at 10am at the former Hannaford location on Willow Street in Augusta. The event will be over at noon or when the food supply is depleted.

TANKS-GIVING is Central Maine’s biggest food drive. For years this food drive has been raising tons of non-perishables and thousands of dollars helping the food banks of central Maine. Today is day three and here is where you can help out at Shaw’s in Augusta 8-4 and Shaw’s in Waterville from 9-4. Donations of non-perishables and cash help...big time!

Gov. LePage is taking some time off from the campaign trail this weekend to open up his home for the 4th annual Blaine House food drive. Mainers are invited to drop off non-perishable goods and get a tour of the Blaine House in Augusta from the governor between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. The food drive at the Blaine House will also be held on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.

‘Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive’ takes place in central Maine and just about everywhere (May 10) this Saturday. Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers across America collect non-perishable item in the ‘Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive’, the largest one-day food drive in the nation.

Join the United Way of Mid-Maine's "Day of Action" Community Food Drive this Friday, June 21 from 8:00 am until noon. Teams of United Way Volunteers will be at three different locations: Elm City Plaza in Waterville, Fairgrounds Marketplace in Skowhegan (between Wal-Mart and Hannaford) and at Jimmy's Market in Bingham.

Governor and Mrs. LePage want to say ‘Thank you’ to everyone who helped out this year with the governor’s annual food drive. Maine's first family says the food drive in which donors dropped off non-perishables at the Blaine House brought in about 1,568 pounds of food for Maine families.

Today was a day of giving to the food banks for many who strolled through The Maine Mall. Right in front of Sports Authority and The Gap, Good Shepherd Food Bank was collecting non-perishables and cash donations for the holiday season and beyond.

This is such an important week for those in need. All this week, until Friday mid-morning, there is a giant food drive going on in central Maine from our Townsquare Media sister station. There will be a tent set up next to the tank on the hill at Camp Keyes in Augusta. And if you are out doing some grocery shopping and you see the Maine Army National Guard at your local store with a truck, they ar
