Augusta native and former Olympian Julia Clukey, announced her retirement from the sport of luge earlier this week. Today (Aug. 11) she took time to join us on the Moose Morning Show, to talk about what led to her decision and what is next for her.

Augusta native Julia Clukey is going to give the World Cup luge tour another go, at least for one more year. The 29-year-old made the announcement this afternoon at her summer camp for girls on Maranacook Lake Readfield.

Sunday (May 4) it was the 39th annual induction ceremony for the Maine Sports Hall of Fame. Among those honored was Augusta native, Olympic luger and friend of the Moose Morning Show, Julia Clukey.

Julia Clukey, who grew up in Augusta, ME and made the 2010 U.S. Olympic team in luge, is currently the first alternate for the 2014 Women's Luge team in Sochi. She has been, and continues to be a role model for all us, specifically for young women with her annual KVYMCA Camp for Girls. Off the ice, she has faced many challenges, including surviving brain surgery.

Julia Clukey, who was a member of the 2010 Olympic Luge team, today (Dec. 13) fell just short in making this year's squad.
