Cook grew up in Waterville, and like many Maine 4th graders, read 'Lost On A Mountain In Maine' in class. He also met Fendler when the author visited his school.
Thanks to the bravery and skill of wardens and canines with the Maine Warden Service, and elderly Maine man is safe and back with his family this morning.
The Maine State Museum is hosting Donn Fendler for a special exhibit remembering his survival after nine days alone on Mount Katahdin at age 12 in 1939. He will be signing copies of the book ‘Lost on a Mountain in Maine.’
