I HATE ticks. They are disgusting little blood suckers. I have human friends who suffer from the effects of Lyme disease. It was a tick with Lyme that infected my old dog, CoffeeDog. I put CoffeeDog to sleep in 2006 because of Lyme related issues. In my book, ticks are gross. But they bring more than just Lyme.

The number of gonorrhea cases in Maine has more than quadrupled in the past four years. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention says there were 441 reported cases of the sexually transmitted disease as of mid December, up from 98 reported cases in 2008. More than half of those cases are in people in their 20's.
