It time to start thinking about Halloween and if you and your family haven't done so yet, it's time to pick your pumpkin! Much like picking your own blueberries and apples, many Maine farms are open for you to pick your own pumpkin.

We always have a blast carving pumpkins right around this time, every year. You know what? We usually don't get to creative. That's probably my fault, because by the time I get all the 'pumpkin junk' out and get the gourd ready for the knife, I've had enough.

We've been so busy we haven't had much time to carve pumpkins this year. However, today my wife, Jeana and Alexis decided to go for it. Probably a good thing we waited, the jack-o-lanterns would've just got soaked, thanks to Sandy, anyway!

On a crisp fall night, what more could you ask for than a family get together that starts out with three bowls of homemade, spicy chili with buttered corn bread (Marie Anne made it) and then pumpkin carving (I videotaped...they don't trust me with sharp tools)......

When we carve pumpkins, we generally use a knife, but they must do things a little differently in the South. For example, Tennessee resident and YouTuber Hickok45 carves his pumpkin with a Colt 1911 handgun. Why, you may ask? Because using anything else would just be plain silly.

We’re self-proclaimed Halloween geeks. But honestly, how can you not be? There are so many ways to celebrate the holiday that by the time October 31st rolls around, our entire lives are defined by creepy stuff and ridiculous garb. Our pets aren’t big fans of the festive takeover, but that’s never stopped us from dressing them up as a turkey dog!

Over the weekend, a massive 300-pound pumpkin displayed at Hammer's Farm Market in Peoria, Illinois, went missing and may have been taken by thieves. We're not sure what's more impressive -- actually growing a 300-pound pumpkin or working out the logistics to steal one.

There are tons of things we love about America. Our grand ole’ country cranks out hysterical, nightmare-inducing shows about mini pageant queens and we throw Big Bird into the political scene, for example. But our recent discovery tops them all-- ladies and gentlemen, we live in the presence of the most recent world champion pumpkin grower.
