Many local communities are holding elections on Tuesday, June 9. The school budgets are on the ballot in Augusta and many other towns and districts. Embden residents will vote on SAD 74 withdrawal. Waterville residents vote on whether to toss the pay-as-you-throw trash and curbside recycling program.

The Maine Senate has approved a bill that would require ID when voting at the polls.

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a joke or not, but President Barack Obama is talking about the idea of making voting mandatory in the US.

Maine citizens who are registered to vote may use this free service to request an absentee ballot for the November 4, 2014 General & Referendum Election. Ballots must be received no later than 8:00 pm on Election Day.

When we think of elections, we normally think of the first (or second) Tuesday in November, but just as important is the June election on June 10th.

Today is election in day in Maine.  There are five bond issues for voters, so those will be on everyone’s ballots.  If you community has any local races or issues you will find those on your ballot as well.  Not sure where you need to go to vote? Find your location here.  According to what I was reading at Maine.gov,  you are not registered to vote as of Election Day, you can register on Election

Tuesday November 5th is an election day in Maine. So, if you were planning voting by absentee ballot you better get going on that. We have until Thursday, Oct 31 to request an absentee ballot. That also includes requests to vote in the presence of the municipal clerk.

Tuesday, November 6 is 'Election Day.' Voting is one of the most important rights and responsibilities that we, as U.S. citizens have. About 90 million American citizens, who are qualified to vote, won't. They give up on a chance to choose leaders and representatives who will do things that are important to them. Respect your right to vote! It's a privilege.
