Today in History: August 6th
Each day around 10:20 am and 2:20 pm we step into a time machine and take a look back. Who was born? What was going on in the world? What happened in music?
Today on August 6th
In 1972-Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice, of the Spice Girls was born! She's 47 today.
In 1890-The electric hair was used for the first time as a replacement for hanging, on William Kemmler. He was an alcoholic and after a night of drinking, he became enraged with his girlfriend and killed her. Being the first time the chair had been used on a human, it didn't go smoothly. Kemmler ended up being shocked once for 17 seconds and then a second time with increased voltage.
In 1997-"Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)" from the Backstreet Boys was certified gold.
And that's what happened today in history.
