Pick Your Own Apples at This Picturesque Central Maine Orchard
There’s something timeless about a Maine orchard in the fall. The crisp bite in the air, the rustle of leaves underfoot, and the scent of ripe apples hanging heavy in the branches bring you right back to childhood.
Maybe you remember riding high on your dad’s shoulders, stretching your arms toward the reddest apple just out of reach, your fingers brushing against it before finally twisting it free. Those simple moments, sticky fingers, flushed cheeks and a bag slowly filling with treasures from the trees, all became some of your sweetest memories.
And it wasn’t just the apples. A trip to the orchard meant finding that perfect pumpkin too. Searching row after row until you spotted the one that felt like it was waiting just for you. Maybe it was destined to become a jack-o’-lantern with a toothy grin, or maybe it sat proudly on the porch as a bright orange sign that autumn had truly arrived.
Whether it was apples, pumpkins or just the joy of being together, those orchard visits captured a kind of magic that never really leaves us. And now is the perfect time to make plans to visit an orchard near you.
For our family, we love visiting our friends at Bailey's Orchard in the beautiful Maine town of Whitefield. From McIntosh, Cortland, Macoun, Spartan and Liberty apples to many more varieties, Bailey's is a one-stop shop for all your fall-goody needs.
Pick a couple bags of apples, grab the perfect pumpkin for carving and step into their rustic barn for an incredible selection of fudge, treats, Maine-made maple syrup and so much more.
Bailey's is located at 255 North Hunts Meadow Road in Whitefield and is open from 9-5:30 daily. But bring some old-fashioned money with you because they are cash or check only.
See you at the orchard!
