
Man’s Body Pulled From Kennebec River Amid Search For 22-Year-Old
Sad update out of the Kennebec River this week. Maine Marine Patrol says a man’s body was found Wednesday evening near Woods Island, not far from Bath, during the search for a missing local fisherman.
According to WGME, the body was discovered around 6 p.m. by a group of good Samaritans on Crawford Island, who spotted it and quickly called 911. Woods Island is just a short distance away.
The man has not been officially identified yet, but the body has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta for confirmation, the news station reported.
Marine Patrol had been searching the river since Sunday for 22-year-old Robert Stolt of Augusta. According to reports, Robert was fishing near Lines Island in Bath when his dog jumped off his 23-foot boat and into the river. He went in after the dog but never resurfaced.
Other boaters in the area were thankfully able to rescue the dog.

According to an article on the WMTW website, authorities continue to search for a man who dove into the Kennebec River on Sunday in an effort to save his dog.
The article explains that 22-year-old Robert Stolt, along with at least one other person and two dogs, was fishing from a 23-foot-long boat on Sunday afternoon.
At just after 2 PM, in the vicinity of Lines Island, Stolt dog jumped into the water. Stoltz dove into the water in order to rescue to pup. At some point, the woman who was on the boat with Stoltz also ended up in the water.
