Maine Announces First-Ever Recall of Contaminated Marijuana

In Maine, we have the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy, which makes sure the flower being sold is up to par with the law.

They have just announced their first recall for one cannabis strain and three pre-roll strains for being contaminated, according to WGME

The flower was produced by Cannabis Cured, which has 13 different locations in Maine, as per their site.

The products were sold at these stores in Maine and have been recalled after specific strains failed a "Yeast and Mold Test." by the MOCP, the news station reported.

If you have purchased any of the products from Cannabis Cured, make sure to get a hold of them to inquire if the items are on the list of recalled cannabis products.

WGME said the products were sold in eight stores across Bangor, Carrabassett Valley, Damariscotta, Eliot, Fairfield, Stratton, Thomaston, and Northport.

The MOCP warns folks that if you partake in cannabis products that have high levels of mold, they can cause physical ailments like sinus issues, headaches, dizziness, or fatigue, according to the news station.

The Portland Press Herald reported that this is the first-ever recall for recreational marijuana since recreational cannabis was allowed back in 2020.

The cannabis products that were affected were sold between August 27, 2024, and September 9, 2024, according to WGME.

As per the MOCP, all cannabis packages that were bought in Maine must have a label indicating the product's batch number. They also tell consumers to check the label to determine if the item was bought during the time of the recalled dates.
