Debbie Reynolds has released a statement about the death of her daughter, actress Carrie Fisher.

In it, Reynolds thanks fans for their outpouring of support in the wake of Fisher's untimely death.

“Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter,” the Singin' in the Rain actress wrote in a post on Facebook this afternoon (December 27). “I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carries Mother.”

Fisher was rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital on December 23 after suffering a heart attack on an airplane headed from London to LAX. Her condition had been upgraded to "stable" by December 26, but the Star Wars actress ultimately passed away early this morning.

News of Fisher's death began circulating online today, when her daughter Billie Lourd confirmed it in a statement via family spokesman Simon Halls, saying, “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Fisher was 60 years old.
