I'll be the first to admit that unlike most people who call the state of Maine home, I'm not a huge fan of lobster. It's not that I don't like it...I just don't LOVE it like most Mainers do. Nevertheless, the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland is an event that has some kind of fun for everyone, even if you won't be digging into some tails and claws.

The Maine Lobster Festival has been a tradition here in Maine for quite some time. This year marks the 72nd year of the event. According to mainelobsterfestival.com, the Maine Lobster Festival attracts tens of thousands of people to mid-coast Maine every year. In addition to the fresh and local lobster dinners, there's plenty more going on. The event features live entertainment, cooking contests, carnival rides, and lots more fun. It's a great time for both kids and grown ups of all ages!

Maybe the best part of the Maine Lobster Festival is that it raises money for a great cause. Since it's inception, it has raised a half million dollars for Midcoast Maine food pantries, community service groups, local emergency services, and even offers college scholarships for graduating high school seniors.

That being said, they manage to keep it super affordable to attend - general admission tickets for opening day are just a dollar!
