Kevin Camps on The Subaru Roof Until He Raises $85,000 in Maine
Guys, picture this, a determined man camping out on top of a car dealership until $80,000 of donations roll in. His name? Kevin Fitzpatrick, he is the program director at STRIVE, according to News Center Maine.
STRIVE is a community–focused organization that helps people with emotional and intellectual disabilities.
Kevin is planning on sleeping on the roof of the Subaru dealership in Saco, Maine until he raises his goal. He’s been doing this for the past thirteen years!
A Man, A Roof, and a Really Big Goal
According to the article, he climbed up to the roof on September 3rd and will be staying right there, all to help teens and young people with developmental disabilities.
And each year, he comes with everything he needs, a cot to sleep on, a tent to sleep in and warm winter clothes.
He brings plenty of food but does not shower. In the past, he’s faced storms and all the unique and crazy weather Maine brings us. Why? Because he's a person that wants to help. It's as simple as that. A simple idea that has grown into pure love.
Kevin also uses the same metal pail to hoist down the side of the building to collect the money. His goal? To reach 1 million dollars by the year 2030.
You can watch Kevin LIVE, right now on the roof here!
Kevin told News Center Maine,
"It's very encouraging because I'll tell you what: there are times throughout this fundraiser that self-doubt will creep in. You know, if hours go by without any activity, you can start wondering, 'oh, boy, have I taken it one year too far?' But every year is a great reminder that that's just not the case.

What’s is so awe-inspiring about this is how much the community comes together.
As per their site, people text “KOTR” to donate, stop by the lot and cheer for him.
It’s a wild idea that turned into something powerful.
