MLB Home Run Derby

Every year, the power hitters of the MLB all collect together in July during the All-Star Break the day before the actual All-Star game itself to see who has the biggest bat in the league for that particular season.

2024 Home Run Derby

But here's the thing, regardless of all the moonshots that occurred during the derby on July 15, 2024, there is only one thing that viewers and fans in attendance were talking about following the event, especially on social media, and had it nothing to do with baseball, home runs, or players.

Ingrid Andress National Anthem

By all accounts, both on recorded songs and live performances in concert, Ingrid Andress is mega talented.

She's been nominated for Best New Artist at both the GRAMMYs and the CMA Awards, along with another CMA nomination for Song of the Year.

She also has had two songs reach #1 on the country radio charts, first in April 2020 for her song More Hearts Than Mine, and again in November 2022 for her song with Sam Hunt, Wishful Drinking.

Even with those accolades, though, Ingrid still made headlines following her performance of the National Anthem at the 2024 Home Run Derby.

Ingrid Andress Reactions

Naturally, before Ingrid even finished her last note of the Anthem to kick off the Home Run Derby, social media blew up with reactions.

Some reactions involved green screen videos created by local influencers like New Hampshire resident Derec Clark, who took the angle of being a derby participant lined up along the foul line during the performance.

And while it's not necessarily a review of her performance, or even presenting Ingrid's anthem in a positive or negative light (as many viewers did while posting to their social media accounts following the performance), the body language is the focal point of the video (to the enjoyment of the multiple commenters on Derec's video.)

And maybe Derec didn't critique Ingrid's performance either way, but other New Englanders did. And while some New Englanders had not nice things to say (including some Boston TV reporters), others, like Massachusetts resident Jackson Blue, acknowledged Ingrid's talent and that "something was very off."

Ingrid Andress Statement

It turns out, Jackson was onto something with his intuitive post, as following Ingrid's performance, she announced that she wasn't of sound mind during her performance and that was getting the help she needs.

Her Instagram statement (which includes a word that can be considered by some NSFW) is below.
