Two of the things I love most are spending time in our beloved Portland and traveling. And that can be a conundrum.

It’s hard to do both, considering they directly contradict each other. It’s difficult to enjoy traveling if I’m, you know, spending time in Portland... and vice versa. So, how could I possibly reconcile this? That’s simple, I just need to utilize the power of AI.

Artificial Intelligence Does Have its Positives

Who doesn’t love a little artificial intelligence in our lives? I mean, sure, it’ll probably take over the world and enslave us all at some point, but until then, we might as well take advantage of it, right?

Anyway, I decided to head over to the site ChatGPT to ask it a very specific question. I was dying to know what it thought were some of the most similar cities to our Portland, cities that are coastal, have great food, beautiful scenery, wonderful culture, and just that cool vibe we’re so lucky to have here.

Some of these cities are quite close, including the one ChatGPT says is the most similar: Halifax, Nova Scotia. Others are thousands of miles away but still strong contenders to be considered Portland’s global twins.

Below, you’ll find the list of cities that AI claims are most similar to Portland. Have a look for yourself, maybe you’ve been to one or two... or all of them.

Happy travels.
