Sure, those are great, but there are some true hidden gems worth considering.

One city in New Hampshire just got the national spotlight as one of the most underrated travel destinations in the U.S., and honestly? It’s about time.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Named Underrated Travel Destination

Granite Staters have long known what makes New Hampshire special, especially Portsmouth.

So, a slow clap of approval is in order with U.S. News & World Report ranking the Seacoast city as one of the most underrated travel destinations in the country.

The historic spot landed at an impressive No. 7 on the list, with U.S. News & World Report noting the grand 18th-century homes, "timeless waterfront," and general charm of the area.

They do mistakenly call Portsmouth a town rather than a city, but we'll let that slide because the spot feels more like a close-knit community than some major widespread metropolis anyway.
