Early Wednesday morning (Nov. 13), the Country Music Association revealed the winner for their Musical Event of the Year category on ABC's Good Morning America. Before the 2019 Country Music Awards is broadcasted on Wednesday night, the association revealed that Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' record-breaking remix to "Old Town Road" won the award. After he found out about his win, Nas X hit up his Twitter account to celebrate.

"LETS GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Lil Nas X tweeted.

The "Panini" artist found out about his nomination back in August just months after his song was removed from Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. In the months after receiving the nomination, Lil Nas X has garnered plenty of other achievements.

Last month, the RIAA confirmed that Nas X's "Old Town Road" has become certified 10-times platinum after selling over 10 million units. The song, which has seen remixes featuring Young Thug, and more, is now Diamond.

The win comes two months after Nas X announced that he'll be taking some time off for himself. Upon canceling two upcoming shows, the country-rap artist explained to his fans on Twitter that he needed a break.

"[It's] been a wild last 7 months and im ready to take a little time off," Nas X wrote in a tweet from last month. "[Sorry] to everyone attending twitchcon or the sandbox music festival, i will not be there. i love u guys and will make it up to you some way. 😎❤️."

Nas X, who hasn't hit the road for a national tour yet, dropped his debut EP, 7, back in June. The project features the follow-up single "Panini." Shortly after the project was released, Lil Nas X teamed up with DaBaby for the "Panini (Remix)," and insinuated that more remixes were on the way.
