Maine Art Teacher on Leave Following Complaint From Coworker
An art teacher in Maine is reportedly on leave following a complaint filed from a coworker.
According to WMTW News 8, the art teacher, who works for the Spruce Mountain School District which servers the towns of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls, Maine, is on leave following the complaint.
The Superintendent of schools, Scott Albert, told the news station that because of the overall nature of the complaint that was lodged, multiple agencies were notified including the Maine Department of Education (certification program) and the Maine Department of Health & Human Services.
At this time, there is no public information available on the type of complaint that was filed. We also don't yet have information on who filed the complaint or the series of events that led to the report being made.
According to information from Maine.Gov, the Certification Program with the Maine DOE is responsible for certifying both new teachers and administrators as they enter new education roles within the state of Maine.
They are also responsible for renewals with those certifications and also reserve the right to revoke certifications for circumstances that they see fit. Currently, we're not sure why they're involved with the Spruce Mountain situation.
At this time, it is unknown who the teacher is that has been placed on leave, whether it is paid or unpaid or when said teacher may be returning to work.
The investigation is ongoing and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available to us in the coming days and weeks.
