Maine Police Chief Fired For Allegedly Responding to Officer-Involved Shooting While Drunk
We now have new information regarding the firing of a Maine police chief that happened last month thanks to an obtained termination letter.
According to an article published by WGME 13, Glenn Moshier, the now former police chief of the Ellsworth, Maine Police Department was terminated for allegedly showing up to work while under the influence of alcohol.
WGME is reporting that Chief Moshier, who was also working as the town manager, was off-duty and consuming alcoholic beverages. The article indicates that the Chief had consumed five adult beverages on this specific day.
While off duty, the chief learned that there had been an officer-involved shooting with the Ellsworth Police Department. At that time, he responded to the call.
However, after learning of the shooting, WGME reports that Chief Moshier had his wife drive him to the police station. It was after arriving at the police station that some officers say they suspected their chief was under the influence of alcohol.
The Ellsworth Town Council stated that Chief Moshier violated four of the department's responsibility and conduct codes, thus resulting in his termination last month from the PD.
Though he was fired last month, WGME is reporting that Moshier has not yet responded to the termination letter.
This is a developing story that we will continue to keep updated as more information about the alleged incident becomes available to us in the coming days and weeks.
