Maine Teen Playing ‘Ding Dong Ditch’ Shot by Homeowner
When it comes to 'harmless pranks', it seems like they're really a thing of the past. Especially when it comes to pranks that teens now-a-days are pulling off.
When I think back about my own childhood, I certainly remember pulling my share of pranks, though I don't distinctly remember ever playing ding-dong-ditch.
If you're not familiar with the, typically innocent, game, it's where (usually teens) someone runs onto someone's porch, rings their doorbell a couple of times, and then flees to hide while they watch the homeowner open the door in a look of confusion as they try and figure out who rang their doorbell.
However, for a group of Maine teens, what they thought would be an evening of harmless fun, turned into one of their friends being shot by a Maine homeowner.
According to an article published by WGME 13, a group of Maine teens was out playing 'ding dong ditch' at about 1 AM Saturday in the Maine town of Harrison, located in Cumberland County.
Police say that the group of kids was playing the game when at one house, the homeowner opened the door and began firing a handgun at the group of teens. One of the teens was struck by gunfire in the leg.
Police say the teen, who had been shot in the leg by a homeowner on Waterford Road, was able to walk himself to an area hospital where he was reported to have 'serious but non-life-threatening' injuries.
WGME reported that police later identified the shooter as 30-year-old Vincent Martin. He was subsequently arrested for aggravated assault and aggravated reckless conduct.
