This Free Family-Friendly Event With Baby Animals Is Happening At One Of Maine’s Oldest Farms
Long before Maine became a state, one historic farm had already planted its roots. More than 240 years later, one of Maine’s oldest farms still operating under the same management is opening its gates for a free spring celebration filled with history, family fun, and plenty of baby animals.
One Of Maine's Oldest Farms
Maine is known for its rich agricultural history, and few places embody that legacy quite like Shaker Village. Established in 1783, the historic farm stands as one of Maine’s oldest farms still operating under the same management since its founding.
Through generations of change, Shaker Village has remained rooted in tradition while continuing to preserve the farming practices and community spirit that have shaped it for more than two centuries. The farm’s long history offers visitors a unique opportunity to step into Maine’s past while experiencing a living piece of agricultural heritage that continues to thrive today.

Guests can meet baby lambs, kid goats, ducklings, rabbits, and oxen while also visiting the farm’s established residents, including Scottish Highland cattle, bees, barn cats, and a flock of more than 70 sheep.
Visitors can create a make-and-take mini garden, sample Brother Arnold’s famous Shaker Rhubarb Crisp, browse handmade artisan goods and farm-grown products, and enjoy food trucks, face painting, cotton candy, craft demonstrations, and more.
