A 17-year-old girl was killed last night (June 21) in a car accident on Eastern Avenue in Augusta.

According to the Augusta Police Department:

...a red 2008 Mazda MZ3 was traveling east on Eastern Avenue when the driver, 19 year old Darrien Allard of Sidney, lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle exited the roadway and collided with the culvert on the side of the road causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

Allard’s 17 year old female passenger, whose name is being withheld at this time, passed away.

Mr. Allard and two other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash were transported to Maine General in Augusta to be treated for the injuries they sustained.

The cause and contributing factors in this crash have not yet been determined.
