Property values have soared over the last few years, making it difficult for potential homebuyers to get into a new home. Well, those that are looking to purchase in a ski town (or even close by) have had an even bigger challenge.

Homes in ski towns have typically been more expensive prior to the housing shortage. According to realtor.com, the average price of homes in ski towns is up an astronomical 48% over the last three years, compared to the rough national average of 37%.

If you're reading this article, chances are that you or someone you know might be interested in purchasing a home in a ski town to live or invest in, and the dream you may have thought to be impossible in the current market could be right at the tip of your fingers.

You may have heard of a town called Lee, Maine. It's located about an hour north of Bangor. What's located in Lee? Well, obviously a mountain to hit the slopes on, but that's about it. It's a quiet and fairly non-eventful town with a population of 916, according to cenus.gov.

Mount Jefferson is a small mountain with 12 trails and three lifts. However, it does offer trails for all different experience levels of skiers and riders, and offers some of the lowest lift ticket prices in the state.

Along with those low lift ticket prices comes low home prices as well. Realtor.com also reported that Lee, Maine, is the most affordable ski town on their list, with the median home price being only $215,000.

It's not Rangely or Bethel, but if you're looking for a home near the slopes and quiet and tranquil is your vibe, the town of Lee might be just the spot for you.
