In 1975-Mel B aka Scary Spice of the Spice Girls was born! She turns 44 today.

In 1999-The space shuttle, "Discovery" completed the first-ever docking with the International Space Station.

In 1987-Michael Jackson first id on the remains of the "Elephant Man", John Merrick, in the amount of $50,000 but was ultimately unsuccessful. Subsequent bids went as high as $1M. To this day the remains are on display in the pathology collection at the Royal London Hospital.
