According to WMTW, a 16-year-old boy from New Sharon, Maine accidentally shot and killed himself on Monday while he was video chatting with a friend. The accident happened just before 3 PM on Industry Road.

The firearm was owned by the teen's parents and was said to be stored unloaded in a closet according to officials. Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols said the event was a "horrific accident".

Authorities have indicated there are no pending charges at the current time. The boy was a student at Mount Blue High School and his identity is currently being withheld.
