You would think a gun had two legs, killed instinct and a mind of its own the way people, because some folks just freak out when they see one. This is the sad, in my humble opinion, because I see them as a tool I will (most likely) never need. But some people are so fearful, for whatever reason, that their judgment is skewed.

Kansas City police officer Michael Holsworth was meeting his family for a birthday lunch. He arrived first and sat down on a bench to wait. A hostess approached him and asked him to leave because they don’t allow guns. The fact that he was full police uniform apparently made no difference. Wow. How does this person even survive on her own with such poor judgment skills?

A (polite) post by Officer Holsworth on Facebook caught fire. It was shared several thousand times. The restaurant even got phone calls complaining about the treatment the LEO received.

The restaurant, including the president of the chain, apologized to Holsworth and said police officers are welcome in anytime.

I’m hoping the hostess was just very young and overly cautious. Anyone with street smarts would have, at the very least, gone to consult with a manager.
