I am the News Director for the Townsquare Media/Augusta-Waterville stations and also the host of our public affairs show, "Issues," Sunday mornings! Make sure you come say "Hi" to me at one of our many live local broadcasts.
Saturday morning I am flipping through my KJ and I happen to notice this amazing letter to the editor. It was amazing because it was, in my opinion, SO true. The best part? The author is a 14-year-old from Manchester. See what wisdom Laura Parent has to share.
I was at the first one and it was great! Augusta Food Bank 4th Annual Dinner and Auction is November 1st. The event held at the Calumet Club, 334 West River Road, Augusta. The best part is it all goes to help the Augusta Food Bank! The food bank takes care of Augusta and Manchester.
Gov. LePage is taking some time off from the campaign trail this weekend to open up his home for the 4th annual Blaine House food drive. Mainers are invited to drop off non-perishable goods and get a tour of the Blaine House in Augusta from the governor between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. The food drive at the Blaine House will also be held on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.
When it was first announced years ago there was a hydroponic grower coming to Madison, I wanted to see it! Really, how cool on so many levels. High-tech meets good ol’fashioned farming. It has taken since 2007 to make this dream come true! I was lucky enough to get quick peek into Backyard Farms! What an AMAZING place.
HBO will still look to grow cable subscribers BUT they are looking to sell HBO service separately, as an online service. In 2015, you will be able to subscribe to HBO just like you do Hulu or Netflix. SO if you have internet you will be able to get HBO...without cable or satellite.
Oh, question one, about bear hunting. Here is the text of the question: “Do you want to ban the use of bait, dogs or traps in bear hunting except to protect property, public safety, or for research?” I am one of the undecided. I want and need to know more to make an informed decision.
Investigators are blaming a mechanical problem for the Halloween-themed hayride crash in Mechanic Falls that killed 17-year-old Cassidy Charette of Oakland and injured many others. The state fire marshal's office says investigators are trying to figure out exactly why the Jeep towing the hay wagon wouldn’t or couldn’t stop, going down a hill in the woods and struck a tree Saturday night.
This is a tragic story. A teenager is dead and two others are in critical condition after a Halloween-themed hay ride careened down a hill and crashed in the woods. The accident occurred at Harvest Hills Farm in Mechanic Falls.
Get this…those fancy hand-free features in your car; they might not be as safe as you think they are. Two studies seem to indicate just because you have the ability to make hands-free call or whatever; it may not be safe to do it. I guess, if you are in your car and on the roadway you still have to put driving first.
