UPDATE: The mega blockbuster between the Boston Red Sox & Los Angels Dodgers is complete. Adrien Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Carl Crawford and their salaries of over $270 million dollars are heading to the Dodgers. Deal details.

Friday, August 24

The LA Dodgers claimed Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez on waivers early this afternoon, then they claimed pitcher Josh Beckett. Teams claiming other players on waivers is usually no big deal, but rumors are swirling that Boston and the new owners of Los Angeles just might swing a blockbuster trade.  Could injured Carl Crawford and reserve Nick Punto be included too? That's the rumor all over the 'Twitterverse' this afternoon.

FOX Sports confirmed the rumor through a source and went as far as to call it "close" to being finalized. Gonzalez was scratched from the starting line-up for tonight's game with Kansas City.
