One Direction, Adele + Calvin Harris Make List of Britain’s Richest Young Musicians
Thanks to the ongoing British Invasion, there are quite a few recognizable names on the Sunday Times' 2014 Young Music Rich List, featuring Britain’s biggest under-30 moneymakers.
DJ Calvin Harris — who has worked with stars like Rihanna, Katy Perry and Rita Ora — took the respectable spot of second place, with an approximate worth of $50 million. There’s a steep drop between Calvin and the third runner up, Cheryl Cole, whose earnings still total to a whopping $26 million.
Unsurprisingly, the four One Direction lads all tied for fourth through eighth place, worth about $23 million each. In total, the group is worth over $117 million, making them the richest boy band in British music history. Keep breaking those records, boys.
So who is making it rain in first place?
Oscar-winning, chart-topping Adele, of course. This is the third consecutive year the 26-year-old singer has ruled the chart, after seeing continuing success for her acclaimed album ’21,’ released in 2011.
With the ‘Skyfall’ singer hinting at her next album possibly dropping later this year, it’s unlikely anyone will be surprised if she takes the crown in 2015, too.
