3 days ago Memorial Day weekend is coming soon. Any plans? It’s unofficially the first weekend of summer. The beginning of the tourist season, long lines at the tolls, rides at the theme parks and pretty much everywhere people go. It's time to think about sun and sand at the beaches!
3 days ago For some time our family has been talking about getting a second cat, as a playmate or friend for "Thunder." So yesterday, Lynn and I told the kids we'd go to The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society just to look. "Just to look" is I guess code in our house for bring the cat carrier just in case. "Bring the cat carrier" is code for we're not just looking. I say in this all in fun, but how can you not take home a kitty after you seem them?
2 weeks ago Just getting back from an after concert treat at DQ. My oldest, Dylan was part of the Auburn Middle School band,/chorus concert. Dylan plays the trumpet. The group decided to perform 'Thrift Shop' by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. It was well done.
2 weeks ago For the past couple of weeks, Vikki, our almost two-year-old daughter has been stuffy and over the weekend, she had a mild fever at 99.5. With her history of ear infections, we thought we’d bring her in to the doctor just in case it was an infection or sinusitis.
2 weeks ago Well, Saturday, my little girl Michelle (born the day I started at 92 Moose almost 23 years ago) graduated from the CMMC College of Nursing and Health Professions, wanting to follow in her mom's footsteps. Great school, great training. She almost didn’t go there, though.
2 weeks ago Hope all moms and moms-to-be had a great Mother's day. Did you take Mom out to brunch? Dinner? I cooked Lynn, my wife and mother of my three wonderful children breakfast. Maybe better said, warmed up breakfast. I made cinnamon rolls from a tube, heat and serve sausage and brewed her a flavored coffee. She liked it!
2 weeks ago This is the day I look forward to all winter long. It's the day I am reunited with my 20 feet of motorized fiberglass. With a little luck and an extra propeller or two, it should be a great season!
2 weeks ago Mom left us in September 2006, just as Michelle started her sophomore year in high school. Oh, how proud she'd be of her granddaughter today as she graduates tomorrow as a registered nurse. She would be there bursting with pride and shedding tears of happiness. I know that, in spirit, she is still here and Michelle, who shared a close bond with her, will have "nana" on her mind as she accepts her degree....
3 weeks ago Right now throughout Maine, it's time for kindergarten registration. Vikki isn't at that age yet, but in two years, it will be time to start filling out the paperwork for pre-K. Crazy how time flies. Today at Park Avenue Elementary as Lynn and I walked in for their bi-monthly Wednesday parent-student assembly, known as "Morning Sing," I saw one of the kindergarten teachers doing kindergarten sign ups and what looked to be a meet and greet with the parents.
