January 10, 2013 Waste not, want not. As much as half of the world's food, amounting to two billion tons, ends up being thrown away. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers said the waste was being caused by poor storage, strict sell-by dates, bulk offers and consumer fussiness. All because we want our foods to look perfect.
Back when Facebook was just about college students and the recently graduated it was great for getting back in touch with high school friends that you had lost contact with for a few years. But now that everybody and their grandmother is on the social network, the reunions Facebook enables have started to become really impressive.
January 6, 2013 How has your weekend been so far? Have you taken down all of your holiday decorations? That has been and is the task for us today along with laundry. It's amazing to me how much faster and easier it is to put up the decor than it is to take it down.
January 5, 2013 ShadowDog is sporting his new tags for the year. He has the new rabies and the City of Augusta dog registration tags. I must admit, I have not always been so diligent about registering dogs in the past, but years ago someone from the Kennebec Valley Humane Society explained to me the reason it is SO important.
January 4, 2013 I HATE being cold. But I can do OK if my feet are warm. If my feet and hands are warm, I am even better. With the cold winter temperatures and heat costing so much I look for other ways to not be so uncomfortable.

January 3, 2013 My daughter received an IPod Touch for Christmas. Though it's not a phone, it includes many features such as texting and 'face time.' It's amazing all the things it can do. It's the only thing she wanted for Christmas and we debated for a long time about whether or not it was the right thing for a 10-year old. I'm still not sure.
