This is a bit of a diary entry. Anyone else feel like me and in the same shoes? I am sure there are some. Coming up in less than a month is our trip to Halifax and Edmundston. As I’ve mention a couple of times, Halifax is where I grew up. I love the city but going “home” is always bitter sweet. I love seeing Mom and the friends who have time but at the same time it’s kind of sad.
June 18th holds a special place in my heart because it was on this day back in 1998 Lynn and I had our first date. It's crazy to think how long it's been since that day. Just think it was only months after the ice storm. We met working for a radio station on Washington St. in Auburn. She was the receptionist among other titles and I was the overnight DJ.
Wow, what a great day. Albeit a long and exhausting day but wouldn't trade it. Yes, it's Father's Day but at our house today it was also a double birthday party and a family reunion of sorts. A couple of weeks ago we had a birthday party for Vikki with friends. Today it was a family affair. So more presents for Vikki and more cake. I said double birthday because my nephew also just turned 20.
As summer vacation starts, so do summer jobs for many students in high school and college. What were some of your summer jobs? In my teen years I remember being a dishwasher at a local seasonal restaurant. Of course I also did the fast food thing, but one summer when I was just 15 or 16 I was part of an "Odd Job Squad." The "Odd Job Squad" is where the the weird and fun in writing comes.
As children, we all get our dads some pretty horrible gifts, usually with the help of mom, right? "Look mommy, a pink tie with blue teacups on it. I bet daddy would love that!" "I bet he would," mom says, encouragingly, then proceeds to let you buy it. Come on moms out there. No! Dad will NOT like it. It's cute because it's from the kid but, really? Do I now have to wear that god-awful thing in public? Only once!
It was six years ago today we bought the Malibu from Emerson Chevrolet. Back in June 2007 we had just paid off the 2002 Hyundai Accent and wanted a second car, especially as Lynn was going back to work full-time and her job was in Lisbon Falls about 10-15 miles from Auburn where we live.
Gotta love it when Laura stops by from McDonald's on Western Avenue in Augusta. Love her attitude, her smiling face and, of course, the goodies she brings!
I am a card carrying member of the National Rifle Association. I do believe they are out to protect the second amendment. I don't agree with all they do and all they stand for. In fact, I think some of what they call for is pretty unreasonable...
Nick LeGrand is a 13-year old baseball player from Kansa City, MO who has a rare blood disorder called severe aplastic anemia. This year he was told he couldn't play his favorite sport, baseball. However, tonight (6/12) he will get to throw out the first pitch at the Oakland Athletics/New York Yankees game. He will do it from 1,800 miles away.
If you're a regular listener to the Moose Morning Show or to me in the early afternoon, you know I recently had back surgery. The recovery has been slow because of major nerve irritation. My problem is I am in pain most of the time and can not stay in the same position, standing or sitting for very long. Yeah, yeah bring out the pity patrol.
