Newark, N.J. mayor Cory Booker is at it again. The social media-savvy politico and all-around nice guy once again swooped into action -- this time saving a dog left outside in the freezing cold with an assist from his trusty sidekick Twitter.

The mayor and possible senate candidate was alerted of the dog's situation on Thursday afternoon (Jan. 24) when Eyewitness News reporter Toni Yates spotted a group of pooches and tweeted to the mayor to get them some help.

After telling his faithful manservant Alfred he wouldn't be home for dinner, the mayor jumped in his Bookermobile and drove off to help the shivering pups.

A few hours later, Booker arrived with a police escort to help the cold dogs. There was only one left on the scene by then, but that's okay. After loading the dog into the cop car to warm up, Booker contacted the pooch's owner on his cellphone. The owner said he had no idea how Cha Cha (the dog, not the dance) could have gotten outside, but that he was on his way to collect him.

"This is brutal weather; this dog is shaking really bad and you just can't leave your dogs out here on a day like this," Booker explained to an Eyewitness News crew. "Hypothermia on any animal including a human animal will set in pretty quickly. So this is very sad."

Ever the gentleman, Booker hopped on Twitter once again and thanked Yates for her help in saving Cha Cha's life, taking none of the responsibility himself.

He then flew off into the sky because he heard the sounds of a crying dolphin tangled in a tuna net.

Add this to Cory Booker's resume of awesome. In the past he has rescued a woman from a burning building, helped shovel driveways during snow storms, assisted a pedestrian hit by a car and, during Hurricane Sandy, he opened his home to citizens to charge their phones, feed them and help families find missing loved ones. He was the mayor of our hearts that week.

And ladies, he's single.
