Financial Woes Pile Up for Former Maine Legislator, John Martin

Hard to believe he was in the legislature for 46 years telling the state how to spend our collective money but he can’t seem to manage his own. John Martin’s Tamarack Inn in Eagle Lake has been ordered into foreclosure by a judge.

Martin and a partner owe $232, 000 by the end of March.

According to a Press Herald report, this isn’t the first time Martin has been plagued by financial trouble. He’s had problems including being delinquent on local, state and federal taxes. He also defaulted on guarantees he made on a loan taken out with the Finance Authority of Maine to a business in which he was a partner.

Maybe he’s still reeling from being defeated in November. After 46 years in Augusta, losing an election, I’m sure, is something he never even considered!
