Mantenuto wanted to try acting after his hockey career, and in 2004, he landed the role of Jack O’Callahan, who played defense in the Disney film “Miracle,” according to legacy.com. The movie tells the story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic men’s ice hockey team’s come-from-behind victory over the heavily favored Soviet Union. After beating the Russians, the U.S. team defeated Finland to win the gold medal.

Mantenuto had a couple other movies after “Miracle”: “Dirtbags” (2006) and “Surfer, Dude” (2008), according to imdb.com.

Mantenuto is survived by his wife, daughter, son, father, and three sisters, according to legacy.com.
