We've enjoyed a fairly dry summer and fall season so far here in Central Maine, but we are still in desperate need of the rain. Even though we got those pretty heavy downpours last week it didn't really do much for most of the state's drought conditions. As a matter of fact, though many will hate to hear it, a good dumping of snow throughout the winter combined with a nice slow melt in the spring could really do wonders for the current situation.

If you are looking for a little rain on your parade, then you're in luck for the upcoming weekend. According to Weather.Gov we will see clouds develop throughout the day and precipitation will move in through the afternoon. We should all be seeing showers by around 5 PM today.

Tonight it will just be straight up raining. Lows tonight will dip to around 45 degrees with a gentle wind blowing between 5-10 MPH out of the South. We could see close to an inch of rain during the overnight tonight. Remember, that's all good stuff considering the current drought status.

Tomorrow (Saturday) the rain will continue pretty steadily right up until about noontime for most of us here in Central Maine. After noontime the rain will taper back to be showers until about suppertime, or as you folks from away might call it, 5 PM. We could see another 3/4 of an inch of rain during the day on Saturday.

Saturday night everything begins to taper off and move out of the region leaving us with clearer and drier skies. Sunday looks to be the best day of the weekend if you're looking to get outside and have some fun. We'll see sunny skies with highs in the upper fifties and a light breeze throughout the day.
