I have always said that I like most animals more then I like most people. Well, that probably isn't 100% accurate, but I do have a soft side in my heart for our furry friends; especially those with special needs.

We here at Townsquare Media Augusta/Waterville have teamed up with the great people at the Kennebec Valley Humane Society to bring you the pet of the week. The hope being that we can find some good, loving homes for some of the animals that have been at the KV Humane Society for awhile, and are looking for their forever homes.

Which leads us to our first "Pet Of The Week"

Meet Peanut.

Peanut is a very special kitty who has been with the KVHS since September. He arrived at their shelter with some special needs that they have been tending to. Peanut had an untreated viral infection and abnormal eyelids when he was young. This has created damage to his corneas (the clear covering of the eye). Although you wouldn't think that he could, he sees quite well. They have repaired his eyelids. He doesn't produce normal tears and will need eye medication twice a day for life to keep his eyes lubricated. As far as his personality, he is very outgoing, loves to chit chat, and is a fan of both cats and dogs. He LOVES to lounge, especially in the laps of his people, and has an adorable temperament that's hard not to love!
