There are now more cats in the Augusta area looking for new homes. The Kennebec Valley Humane Society took in 25 new cats this week!   So KVHS is reminding people about the adoption special for adult cats right and asking for donations to help the cats and kittens in the shelter.

All in all, the shelter has 125 cats in its care.  40 of those cats are in foster homes, but all are still looking for their ‘forever homes’.  Monday, there were 25 cats brought to the shelter. Over half were from one woman who couldn't care for them anymore.

To make pet ownership more affordable, the shelter has already waived adoption fees for all adult cats through the September. NO ADOPTION FEE! That means for cats over seven months old they have been spayed/neutered, have had the necessary shots AND have a microchip.

If you are looking for a cat to add to your family, this adoption fee waiver is a BIG deal. Even if you had to pay the fee, you still would be getting a wonderful value. But through September you don’t have to pay it for cats older than 7 months.

If you want to help and you can’t adopt for whatever reason, you can still help the animals.  You can make a donation of money(remember even small donations all add up to help), food/toys or consider becoming a volunteer.  The Kennebec Valley Humane Society depends on the support of all the community and central Maine towns it serves.
