Over the weekend, in celebration of Earth Day, 92 Moose and Townsquare Media teamed up with a group of local veterans and listeners to help clean up the Kennebec River Rail Trail.

First, a BIG thanks to the Veterans of the HUD VASH program.  Undeterred by a little light rain, they came out in force to clean up parts of the Kennebec River Rail Trail in Augusta and Hallowell and the athletic field at City of Augusta Capitol Park (near the YMCA).

In addition to normal trash (styrofoam cups, cigarette buts, and pieces of paper), there were some interesting trash finds.  Like old propane tanks, broken toys, AND...  A car's distributor cap!!!

Thanks again to the Veterans of the HUD VASH program, our listeners, the Friends of The Kennebec River Rail Trail, the Augusta Elks Lodge, the City of Augusta, Lisa's Restaurant (for providing the BBQ lunch), and Mathieu's Cycle and Fitness (event sponsor).

As you take advantage of the amazing trails we have running along the Kennebec River this Spring, Summer, and Fall, please keep them clean.
