Prince Sister Tyka Nelson Files Legal Documents, Late Icon Left No Will
TMZ is reporting that Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, filed court documents to speed the process up.
“I do not know of the existence of a will and have no reason to believe that the decedent executed testamentary documents in any form,” reads the court documents. Tyka asked the judge to appoint a “special administrator.” The role of the special administrator is to have a specific person handle his finances since their is no will.
Additionally, Tyka pointed out potential beneficiaries. John, Norrine, Sharon, Alfred and Omarr are all living siblings of Prince and under the law are entitled to part of his fortune. Tyka, who is the only sibling who shares the same biological mother and father as him, also noted that their may be other “heirs whose identities and addresses need to be determined."
According to TMZ, Prince had financial issues because he refused to part with and sell his catalogue of music. His estate was first estimated at $300 Million but was determined to be less than half of that.
Tyka asked the judge to appoint Bremer Trust, National Association, as the official administrator of Prince's estate because they have delt with his finances for years.
