Shailene Woodley Calls Out Bella + Edward of ‘Twilight’ as Toxic, Reveals Biggest Fear [VIDEO]
Take a seat, Bella and Edward. Or at least head to some couple’s counseling.
‘Divergent’ star Shailene Woodley is about to join the ranks of beloved big screen heroines a la Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart, who played the aforementioned Bella in ‘Twilight,’ and she has boldly called out the romance between Bella and Edward Cullen.
Twihards are about to lose their freakin’ minds over Woodley’s opinion and comments.
“‘Twilight, ‘I’m sorry, is about a very unhealthy, toxic relationship,” the actress, who plays Tris, told Teen Vogue (quotes via Us Weekly). “She falls in love with this guy and the second he leaves her, her life is over and she’s going to kill herself! What message are we sending to young people? That is not going to help this world evolve.”
Woodley, 22, clearly has a strong viewpoint about the portrayal of young females (and maybe about the former real life relationship between Stewart and Robert Pattinson) and she may have just inspired the ire of Twihards that adore Bella.
That’s not something Woodley fears, though.
When asked about her fear landscape as part of a discussion with MTV about ‘Divergent’ and the ‘Dauntless’ faction, both Woodley and co-star Theo James expressed water-based fears.
James first joked about being afraid of deep water and of sharks ripping him apart, but he loves the ocean and is obsessed with sharks.
Water creatures do not inspire Woodley’s fear, but a submarine does!
“You’re in a steel little box, thousands of feet under the water, you can’t see anything because they can’t have windows for pressure or some reason, I dunno, maybe I am making that up, but it seems terrifying,” she said, referencing being scarred by a G-rated film involving subs.
Ellie Goulding, whose music is featured prominently in the soundtrack, doesn’t have a water-related fear. She is afraid of space, but she hasn’t seen ‘Gravity’ yet. “Once you’ve been to space, what more do you want to see?” she mused.
Good point. One thing we want to see? ‘Divergent,’ which lands at the multiplex on March 21.
